Q: If my roof leaks, will I need it totally replaced?

A: Not necessarily. Roof leaks ca occur because of missing or damaged shingles, loose flash or improper installation.

Most leaks that I have seen over the years have been because of impproper installation.

Q: Can I do repairs myself?

A: Most of the repairs need to be done by a professional roofing contractor. There are couple of reasons for that:

  1. A professional has learned many techniques over the years to properly repair your roof.
  2. Caulking or roofing cement is usually a temporary fix. Most of the "do-it-yourself" repairs that I have seen usually cause more damage. Not to mention the safety factor! You can severly injure yourself if you should fall through or off the roof!

Q: How can I prevent roofing problems?

A: It is a good idea to have your roof inspected at least once a year. After storms or some high winds you should walk around your yard and look for missing shingles or damaged areas, or something that just don't look right!

At that time, call a roofing contractor if you see something out of place.
